Report for SJOM 2008

The 4th Sino-Japanese Optimization Meeting (SJOM 2008) was held during 27th August to 31st August, 2008, at National Center for Theoretical Sciences, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan. With all your supports, SJOM 2008 has come to a successful end and has received positive comments. We would like to thank all of you for coming a long way to Tainan and contributing to the events, which keep the optimization research area growing and promote the connections.

During the five meeting-days of SJOM 2008, 2 keynote talks, 14 plenary talks, and 78 contributed talks were held. Totally, 126 users registered the conference and 102 people showed up. The URL links are conference group photos:

If not combining China and Taiwan, the Japanese constitute 38% of the total 102 participants and thus form the largest single group.

The special issue will be published on Pacific Journal of Optimization, which is edited by Prof. Soon-Yi Wu and Prof. Nobuo Yamashita. The submitting deadline is at the end of March 2009. For more information, please check the website: http://www.ncts.ncku.edu.tw/sjom/index.html

Thank you again for your efforts in SJOM 2008. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again at Beijing in 2011.
