The First Pacific Optimization Conference (POC2014) is organised by Jiangnan University (China) and Curtin University (Australia). It will be held on 31 October – 2 November, 2014 in the beautiful city of Wuxi, China.
POC2014 is a continuation of the conference series, called Sino-Japanese Optimization Meeting (SJOM). The first five SJOM conferences were held, respectively, in Hong Kong (2000), Kyoto (2002), Singapore (2005), Tainan (2008) and Beijing (2011). At The 5th SJOM held in Beijing, China, September 26-29, 2011, the Steering Committee of the SJOM decided to change the title of this conference series to Pacific Optimization Conference in reflection to the wide geographical distribution of their participants of these conferences.
POC2014 aims to provide a forum for scientists, researchers, software developers, and practitioners to exchange ideas and approaches, to present research findings and state-of-the-art solutions, to share experiences on potentials and limits, and to open new avenues of research and developments, on all issues and topics related to optimization and optimal control as well as their applications, which include, but not limited to, the topics listed below:
* Optimization theory, theory and applications
* Linear, convex, nonlinear and cone optimization
* Discrete, nonsmooth, global and stochastic optimization
* Variational inequality and complimentary problems
* Optimal control theory, methods and applications
* Risk modelling and robust optimization
* Applications of optimization in engineering, finance, management, signal and image processing
Information for Participants
Interested participants are kindly requested to email a simple message to the Conference Secretary, Dr. Ryan Loxton (POC@curtin.edu.au). They should submit the extended abstracts of their papers or full papers for possible inclusion in the Conference Proceedings by 31 August, 2014. Dr. Ryan Loxton is in charge of the publication of the conference proceedings. All received manuscripts will be peered reviewed. After the conference, the authors are encouraged to revise and expand their papers to full papers, and then submit them to appropriate special issues of SCI journals for this conference. The following journals have agreed to dedicate Special Issues to the POC2014:
(i) Numerical Algebra Control and Optimization, (NACO)
(ii) Pacific Journal of Optimization (PJO)
(iii) Optimization Methods and Software (OMS)
(iv) Journal of Industrial and Management Optimization (JIMO)
(v) Abstract and Applied Analysis (AAA)
Further details on the submission of papers to these special issues will be provided in the subsequent announcement.
All submitted papers will be subject to the same rigorous reviewing process as if they were submitted to these journals as regular papers.
For anyone who wishes to organise a special session for the Conference, please write to the Conference Secretary, Dr. Ryan Loxton (POC@curtin.edu.au), by 30 June 2014 to inform him the title of the session and the estimate number of potential participants. Each presentation in special session is expected to be 25 minutes. The contributed talk is expected to be 20 minutes. These numbers could be adjusted later when more accurate registration information is available.

Shanghai and Nanjing are two big cites near Wuxi. From either city there are frequent (about every 15 minutes) high-speed trains to reach Wuxi in about 30 (from Shanghai)-60 (from Nanjing) minutes. Further details including hotel information will be posted at the conference website. We look forward to seeing you at the conference.
