“The 10th International Conference on Optimization: Techniques and Applications (ICOTA10)”, held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia during 22-26 July, 2016

The 10th ICOTA conference (ICOTA10; http://iom.num.edu.mn/icota2016/) was celebrated in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, during 22-26 July, 2016.  It has provided a forum for scientists, researchers, software developers and practitioners to exchange ideas and approaches, to present research findings and state-of-the-art solutions, to share experiences on potentials and limits, and to open new avenues of research and developments, on all issues and topics related to optimization and its applications.  Co-Organizing Institutes of ICOTA10 were National University of Mongolia, University of the Humanities and German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology.  ICOTA is one of the official conference series of POP, Pacific Optimization Research Activity Group.  The conference was prepared and conducted very successfully.  Every participant enjoyed ICOTA10 thoroughly at both personal and professional levels.

To commemorate ICOTA2016, we are pleased to announce that Applied Mathematical Modelling (APM) will publish a special issue for the conference.  APM is an international journal devoted to publishing original, high-quality research papers related to the mathematical modelling of engineering and environmental processes, manufacturing and industrial systems.  The Theme of this Special Issue is “Modelling and Optimization in Engineering Applications”.  The aim is to publish original high quality papers presenting substantial novel research achievements on the modelling and optimization in engineering applications.  Therefore, we are inviting the participants of ICOTA10, and those from the ICOTA conference series and researchers from POP Group to submit their papers for consideration for publication in this special issue.  The papers should be within the theme of this special issue.  Papers submitted to this Special Issue must not have been published previously or is currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.  Each paper will go through a strict and thorough peer-reviewing process in accordance with the high standards of APM.
